Detailed Entry Information

English:we found it; we found those
Lenape:nëmàxkàmënèn [vti]

Comments

/ë/ is inserted as a transition sound between /n/ and /m/, also between /m/ and /n/.
First person plural /-nan/ is realized as /-n/ in final position after /-ne/.
The vowel of /-ne/ is laxed in a closed syllable.
Note: "it and "those" cannot easily be distinguished if "we" is specified; the plural markers for both forms normally are assigned the same slot. See the form /nëmàxkamënèna/ "we found those", which some speakers have devised to resolve the difficulty.
