Lenape:     Shè Yu Wëski Kèku

Lenape:     Nisha Lënapèxkweyok utènink eyok.
English:     Two Delaware women went to town.
Lenape:     Mèmhalamùntikaonink eyok.
English:     They went to the store [or trading post].
Lenape:     Na na mèmhalamùnt luwe, "Shè yu wëski kèku.
English:     Then the storekeeper said, "Here is something new.
Lenape:     Tëluwèntàmën hotmil.
English:     They call it oatmeal.
Lenape:     Kata hèch kwëchilahtuneyo?"
English:     Do you want to try it?"
Lenape:     Na na kwëti xkwe luwe, "Nëmahëlàmën. Nkwëchilahtu."
English:     Then the one woman said, "I'll buy it. I'll try it."
Lenape:     Na takòk xkwe luwe, "Machitàm.
English:     The other woman said, "Let's-go-home.
Lenape:     Xu nëwixëni yu kèku, nkwëchilahtuna."
English:     I'll cook this thing, I'll try them."
Lenape:     Na mòchineyo, wixënineyo.
English:     So they went home, they cooked it.
Lenape:     Wëlatuwàk xanikwi kshitay.
English:     They had some squirrel soup.
Lenape:     Na mwichineyo. O, winkàn.
English:     Then they ate it. Oh, it was good!
Lenape:     Xanikwi kshitay òk në hotmil winkàn.
English:     Squirrel soup and oatmeal tastes good.
